Cloud quickstart

Get a hosted pod on Synap Cloud and connect your computer, your AI agents and your phone with one command.

With Synap Cloud, Synap runs the pod for you. You connect to it with @synap-core/cli, the command-line tool that connects a computer and its agents to a pod.

Access

Hosted pods are created on synap.live. While Synap Cloud is in private beta, creating a pod may require an invitation.

What you need

  • Node.js 20 or later (the CLI declares node >= 20).
  • A browser, to sign in and approve this computer.
  • Optional: an AI agent on this computer. synap init looks for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor.
  • Optional: the Relay app on your phone.

1. Run the setup

npx @synap-core/cli init

You can also install the CLI once and run it as synap:

npm install -g @synap-core/cli
synap init

2. Choose your pod

When synap init finds no pod on this computer, it asks where your pod is:

  • I have one on synap.live (sign in): sign in with your Synap account and pick a pod.
  • Create in browser: opens synap.live to create a pod, then waits until it answers. A new pod usually takes about two minutes to start.
  • I have a URL: for a pod you already know the address of.
  • Self-host: prints the commands to install your own pod. See the self-host quickstart.

3. Approve this computer

The CLI shows a short address and a code:

Open https://<your-pod>/... on any device and enter ABCD-1234

Open the address on any device where you are signed in to your pod, enter the code and approve. On a server without a browser, use your phone or laptop. The code expires after a few minutes; run synap init again if it does.

4. Connect your agents

The CLI lists the agents it found on this computer (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) and connects the ones you keep selected. Each agent gets its own key and identity on your pod, so you can see and revoke what each one did.

To connect an agent later, or one init does not detect:

synap connect claude-code
synap connect --list # everything that can be connected

5. Pair your phone

If your pod is served over HTTPS, init ends with a pairing link and QR code for Relay. Relay is where you approve what your agents propose. See Relay.

6. Check that it works

synap status # pod health and API status
synap doctor # is the key valid, do the workspace and project exist on this pod

Then give your agent a real task, for example: "Save a note in Synap with three things I want to do this week." The note arrives as a proposal; approve it in Relay or the Browser app.

Unattended setup

For scripts and CI, pass everything on the command line:

synap init --pod-url https://<your-pod> --api-key <key> --agents claude-code,codex,cursor --yes

--json prints a summary (podUrl, connected, notApproved, failed, pairLink, exitCode). Exit code 0 means at least one agent was connected; 3 means no pod was found or reachable; 6 means the pod is ready but no agent was connected.
