Browser (desktop)
The Synap desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Browser is the Synap desktop app. It is where you do deliberate, heads-down work on your pod: building views and dashboards, writing documents, working on whiteboards, changing your schema and reviewing longer pieces of agent work. For quick approvals away from your desk, use Relay.
Platforms
| Platform | Packages |
|---|---|
| macOS | .dmg and .zip, for Apple silicon (arm64) and Intel (x64) |
| Windows | Installer (.exe, NSIS) and .zip, x64 |
| Linux | AppImage and .deb, x64 |
Builds are published as GitHub releases. https://api.synap.live/download/latest redirects to the right file for a
platform and architecture, for example ?platform=linux&arch=x64 (platform is mac, win or linux; arch is
arm64 or x64). The app updates itself from the same releases.
Connecting to your pod
Browser connects to your pod, hosted or self-hosted. Sign in with the account you use on that pod.
Things to know
- Quick capture:
Cmd+Shift+Spaceon macOS,Ctrl+Shift+Spaceon Windows and Linux, opens a capture window from anywhere. - Links: the app registers the
synap://link scheme, so links from the CLI or other apps (for examplesynap open proposal <id>) open in it. - Dictation: the microphone is used only when you dictate into a composer or record a voice memo.
Browser is not open source. Its feature set changes often; this page lists only what is stable enough to document.
